Norman Carew remembers Lark Lane
My parents
There was something on "Radio Merseyside" today which got me thinking
about Lark Lane.
My parents were living there in 1933 when my twin brother and I were born.

We lived over the chip shop in Hesketh St. My Auntie and Godmother was Nellie Bell,
she owned the sweet shop in Hesketh St., her husband Bert was the local coalman
with a horse and cart. Bert was also the local chimney sweep.
They lived at No. 5 Leda Grove. My parents were Charlie and Peggy Carew.
My brothers and I went to St. Charles School.

In the sixties my fathers brother also used to live off the Lane up til his death
about four or five years ago. He was Bill Carew of 11 Marmion rd. Also my
mothers sister had the sweetshop and newsagents in the Lane, that was in
the sixties, she was Agnes Grogan and her husband Matt was the local bookie.
