The following are of man kind making the worlds damage:
South Asia and Africa:
Climate change is expected to increase the number of people living in poverty.
An estimated 145-220 million additional people could fall below the $2 a day
poverty line and an extra year up to 250,000 extra children could die compared
to a world without climate change.
Asian Monsoon
In India monsoon provides between 75 and 90 per cent of annual rainfall.
Global warming is projected to increase the severity and the possibly the
unpredictability of the monsoon, increasing the risk of severe flooding or even
monsoon failure at the time of year when it is needed most.
Siberian Permafrost
As temperatures rise, the permanently frozen tundra of the northern hemisphere
begins to melt, releasing its vast store of methane-a greenhouse gas which is 20
times more potent than carbon dioxide. Buildings and roads built on the
permafrost will collapse-but this is one area of the world that could otherwise
benefit from warmer temperatures and a longer growing season.
Malnutrition
Around 800 million people (12 per cent of the global population) are currently
at risk of hunger and malnutrition. Temperature rises of between 2C and 3C
could increase this number by between 30 million and 200 million. A
further 1C rise would add an extra 500 million to the number of people at risk
to malnutrition.
